As the world was brought to a stop by being hit by a Pandemic, one of the most hard hitting factors was the impact on the Indian education system!

There had to be quick changes and even faster adaptations!

Admissions were delayed, a lot of students dropped out, exams were indefinitely postponed.

Amongst all this chaos, The foundation worked smoothly with all of your(donors) support and understanding! Our Trustees took this under themselves, and made sure that the process of sponsoring does not have any bumps! While following all the covid protocols, of social distancing and abiding by the curfew, they ensured the safety of the parents/guardians while they come to collect and submit forms and later, collect their cheques. In a normal day scenario, the students are also called to interact and to know their progress throughout the academic year. In spite of understanding the necessity of this interaction, we decided not to call any students and limited our meetings just with the parents.

In these unfortunate times, to avoid gathering, we also did not organise any activities which are usually conducted for the development of these children and require children to meet up physically! Even in the process of collection of forms and cheques, only the extremely important members were present and there was no documentation of the process in order to eliminate non-essential elements.

Despite these hurdles, our trustees made sure that the education of these students is not hampered. All put together, an amount of ₹6,68,550 was paid as the fees for 102 students

The worldwide pandemic of COVID 19 was continued in the year 2021 also. The second wave of pandemic was most hard hitting in the months of March to August 2021 in Gujarat. Though online education continued but all other activities other than academic activities were halted.

Among all this chaotic situation Vidyoday Foundation continued working with the generous support of the donors. When the second wave started easing out in Gujarat; in the months of August, September and October Foundation, as usual gave financial aid to the students. This time we took utmost care to follow the pandemic protocols and maintaining social distancing while distributing the forms, recollecting filled up forms and while disbursement of the cheques. In the year 2020 we could not call the students for interaction, but in 2021 the students were also excited to interact with the trustees of the Foundation as online education was an absolutely new experience for them. So this year along with their parents, the students also came at given time to each of them; so that we could maintain social distancing and COVID protocols and could interact with them individually. The students shared their experiences and difficulties of online education. We gave them patient listening and some suggestions and shared their excitement.
