HOW WE HELP: The Chingari Project
We have also created a program called ‘Chingari, a spark to ignite the spread of knowledge in a setup of collaborative study. In this method of Peer learning, senior students solidify their knowledge by teaching each other. Senior students also mentor junior students. Tutoring one another in a supervised environment can result in better learning and retention. The Foundation extends monetary rewards to the mentor students so as to encourage and motivate them further. This is the tenth year for Chingari and the programme has evolved over time to accommodate students through different life and academic situations. New methods of teaching and various strategies have been tried to enhance the programme.
This project helps the participants to share and discuss diverse perspectives, leading to a more well- rounded understanding of the subject. Consequently the tutored students have increased classroom participation and successful overall performance. The most important factor in children’s education is the concept of joyful learning! Teaching a child to take pleasure in his learning is the greatest guarantor of their intellectual success.
