Time spent with seniors at Seniors’ Home
Vidyoday Foundation is getting older now, we thought. We should spread our wings and embrace new activities. The thought of getting old suddenly made us aware of one of our times burning issues; i.e. problems and facilities for senior citizens who have no one at home to take care of them. Many senior citizens are losing their support system as their sons and daughters are settled abroad or all the family members are working or busy and nobody is at home to take care of the seniors. Many such issues lead to senior citizens opting for staying in Seniors’ Homes.
Vidyoday Foundation & C-Metric Solutions Pvt. Ltd. visited one such Old Age Home in Gandhinagar on 25th July, 2015. Around 19 employees of C-Metric Solutions Pvt. Ltd. volunteered to participate in the recreation program; consisting of drama, mono acting and mimicry; prepared by C-Metric Solutions Pvt. Ltd. employees. The most exciting part of the program was GARABA. The volunteers started playing Garaba so that the residents of the Old Age Home can also join in. Initially the inmates were hesitant to join but after some time they joined the Garba and enjoyed it thoroughly. Playing Garaba for almost one hour made everybody hungry. So steaming hot DHOKALA was ready for everyone. DHOKALA was served to everyone, even to the inmates who could not come out of their rooms due to some reasons, they were served in their rooms by the volunteers. Along with snacks the volunteers interacted with the elders of the Home and gained insight about life and learnt from their experiences of life.
Blood Donation Camp at Gandhinagar
On 17th March, 2016 Vidyoday Foundation & C-Metric Solutions Pvt. Ltd. organised a Blood Donation camp at Gandhinagar. Prathama Blood Bank collected blood from 30 volunteers. This blood donation drive will help various patients needing blood or blood components. We realised the importance of blood donation and decided to organise the blood donation camp again in future.
CHINGARI
CHINGARI has also entered in to third year now. CHINGARI classes are conducted on every Sunday between 10 A.M. to 12 Noon. This used to have a week’s gap in between for the younger students and they were sometimes not practicing during the week and kept on lagging behind in their studies. One girl studying in college needed some financial support for her studies and came up with an idea that to bridge the gap of one week between the CHINGARI classes, she can teach these younger students during the week days before school prayer. That way the younger students were practicing every day what they had learnt on Sunday and wouldn’t forget it. It was a win-win situation for both of them, the college girl got the financial support she needed and the younger students got regular practice.
